Point Pinos Lighthouse
If I was a lighthouse keeper, I might spend the day away dreaming. It's easy to do in this little lighthouse. Pacific Grove California is another one of my favorite spots. Repeated every trip, my family and I go up the tiny wooden steps to the second floor. The window upstairs faces west. The blue pacific reaches beyond the horizon. I love imagining what the lighthouse keepers dreamed about as they looked at the unchanging waters. Since 1855 people like me have walked the narrow steps to view God's glorious creation. The lighthouse contains the simple necessities. It is a good reminder that we really don't need so many things. A good book, pen and paper and a warm fire. Oh, and the sun setting over the pacific everyday. What more could you ask for?

A Walk In The Park
It's Saturday afternoon, time for my daily walk. Today my daughter and I take a stroll through Capitol Park in Sacramento. I've been here many times. The Sacramento State Capitol Park is a gem of northern California. Amid this bustling city is a piece of California history rich in character. It's easy to stroll these grounds and imagine life at the turn of the century. Sometimes a horse and carriage circle its boundaries with visitors. There's lots of places to slow down and enjoy glimpses of the past. This is just one of my favorites.

Craftsmanship
There was a time when simple office furniture was beautiful. This weekend I visited the California State Capitol. The Secretary of State's Office circa. 1902 is one of my favorite rooms. Real wood, paper and leather, what a great environment! Imagine working here. This was everyday standard issued furniture. A simpler time, when craftsmanship was standard. Perhaps another reason I love looking back in time.
